TiE Institute: Contract wtih Growth - The 80/20 of Revenue Capture

November 8, 2007

TiE Institutes nurture entrepreneurs and offer real life lessons and examples to facilitate processes and challenges in entrepreneurial life. The world, let alone business, has been revolutionized by the application of the 80/20 principle. Computing today is a result of the aggressive and systematic application of the principle. So is the Toyota Lexus. But what about marketing and sales? Well !!! Often the extent of our understanding and application of the 80/20 principle remains confined to realizing that “20% of my clients bring 80% of my profits”. While, for some that is a powerful discovery by itself, full of potential for growth, it grossly underestimates the true value of the application of the 80/20 principle to revenue generation. In fact, marketing and sales in most companies are blissfully oblivious of the potency of this underlying thought process, chugging along wrongheaded when they could actually take an swift flight to their destination. No wonder the average tenure of the CMO is just 18 months. The one most common theme that emerges across the board is a lack of alignment between the corporate strategy, marketing and sales towards the implementation of a 360 degree outbound revenue capture program. This seminar for executive management addresses the need for proper alignment and also reviews some tactical applications that will help corporations in the technology services sector spearhead growth and take startups past the initial hiccups.
